About us

Plaintree is a rare type of business, namely a diversified innovative Canadian company that not only performs extensive research and development in Canada, but also fully manufactures its product in this great country.

Plaintree is a company that grows both organically and by acquisitions which has led to its eclectic business mix.

Plaintree is currently involved in the engineering and manufacturing of :

Triodetic: utilizing a proprietary physical connection system, this division is able to create everything from the world’s largest geodesic domes to some of the most innovative architectural structures including those that are truly organic in design.

Hypernetics: complex and rugged aerospace components ranging from antiskid braking components and jet engine assemblies to cockpit instrumentation.

Spotton: designs and manufactures high end custom Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and valves.

Plaintree has over 125 employees including 15 engineers ranging from Aerospace, to Mechanical to Civil. We operate out of a State of the art 135,000 plant in Arnprior, a town located right on the four lane 417 highway a half hour from downtown Ottawa.

All of Plaintree’s divisions operate to the AS9100 quality standard which is a much more difficult certification to obtain than the usual ISO designation.

In addition to its Canadian operations, in 2010 Plaintree purchased Summit Machining in Pennsylvania. Summit does high precision machining of very difficult metals up to 42 inches in Diameter for aerospace engine manufacturers.
